Lots of clinic visits this past two weeks. I think I have been up there daily whether for count checks, to get platelets or blood transfusions, or for a neupogen shot (helps to jump start my white blood cell production). It has been nice to have Ali's godfather John here for the past few weeks to help out. He is traveling back to Florida as I write this. I am scheduled to be admitted to CMC Northeast this coming Tuesday for cycle 3 part a. The doctor wants to keep me on the Hyper CVAD chemo regimen until UNC Hospital's bone marrow transplant unit is ready to admit me. We have our consult appointment in Chapel Hill with Dr. Serody on 5/28/09 where we will likely learn a whole lot more about the estimated 6 week stay there for my transplant. As you can see I allow Kylee to sleep with me some before I have to leave the house for hospitalization. I'm a sucker for her puppy dog eyes! Thanks for all your continued prayers.

Hi Kancho,
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a good weekend. I read your posts but I dont always understand how good or bad things actually are for you. I thought things seemed to be improving but after the last post I am not sure.
All the best

All the tumors are gone except one. Staying on track isn't gonna help, that's why I have to go to chapel hill. We're hoping this stem cell transplant will knock the last tumor out. One thing I've learned is sometimes your up and sometimes your not. I just try to keep a good attitude! Thanks for checking in!

Hey Bro,
ReplyDeleteThe relay is over, but I know the fight has not.
I sent you a SmileBox, so that we would be able to share our experience, with you and your family. It would be an understatement to say, that we were tired. (where's the geritol?)
First I'd like to say that this event, has been the most emotional experience that my family has been honored to share.
The actual event needed to end earlier than its scheduled time. This was due to a line of severe thunder storms that came roaring into the Woodbridge area. Though this did occur, the celebration for life, never faded.
Are kids were simply amazing. They remained with us, stride for stride. And Teresa? Well, let's just say, I truly believe she has obtained a few bionic parts... That woman just WOULD NOT stop!
There were many emotional moments, that were experienced. However the one that I will never forget is:
So Carlito, walked 5 miles in your honor. However when he completed the last lap of the 5th mile, I figured he would sit down and rest... Imagine our shock and amazement, when...
He took off running and I mean took off RUNNING!
He kept his fast pace for a total of 2 laps and as I watched him make his way around the track, for his last and final turn... I raised my camera to capture the moment. But as soon as I saw his face, I knew it... I just knew it.
I would not be able to take that shot.
Why?
Because as he got closer and finally came near, he said...
"Dad, that was for Uncle Rich"
Stay Strong!
