Well it sure has been a while since my last post huh? I guess I got caught up in getting back to work last fall and all that goes along with that. So, we jump over to November where Ali and I met up with her family in the mountains of West Virginia on a beautiful brisk afternoon. The whole gang was there to meet Ali's older sister's boyfriend and his son. The holidays were fun as usual b/c we get to spend it with family and that's what it's all about. We brought in the New Year hoping this year will be cancer free like 2011. So, far so good! During Memorial Day, we went up to visit my family (Mom, Fran, Joe, Shane and Pierce). We had an awesome time and it was nice to see Kylee bond with her cousins. We don't get to see them that often. Joe and I were once again crowned the corn hole champions (undefeated for 2 years now)! The next picture was taken the first Sunday in June, which happens to be National Cancer Survivor Day. Once again, Kylee, Ali and I spent it with my oncologist center staff at their annual event. The following picture is of Kylee at her 1st grade graduation receiving an "accelerated reader" certificate....we're so proud of her! The last 3 pictures are from yesterday at the light the night kickoff which is a fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society(LLS). Buck and I were chosen as this year's light the night honorary heroes! I am so grateful to be standing next to Buck b/c he's my hero! I am passionate about telling my story to people who will be helping to raise money toward research for blood cancers. Check out the link to Light the Night for mine and Buck's story along with a few others.
http://www.lightthenight.org/nc/localchapter/patients I am 2 1/2 years out from my bone marrow transplant and going strong. The 3 year mark is the big one b/c the chances of the cancer returning is rare after year 3. My family and I can't thank you enough for all the prayers and love you have given us throughout this difficult journey. We couldn't have done this without you!! Thank You! Kancho
